First stage is to cut out damagedlead came and remove broken glass and to a sound core - very messy.

Once all damaged parts are removed the old lead cement is cleaned off leaving a part of the original and the glass that can be re-used.

Next stage is to clean the glass - I have used an ultrasonic cleaner that does not damage the glass.

With each piece of glass cleaned, its time to start reassembly. Some new pieces have been cut from other original windows, I reclaimed from a skip a few years ago.

I have kept the manufacture methods the same as the original as I could. Here the joints are tucked under the intersecting lead came.

Final stage is to brush lead cement between the cames and glass joints, then flatten them to squeeze out excess and seal the window. The excess is brushed off with whiting (chalk dust). Another messy job!
